The Cries of Our Sisters...

Bismillah
asalamu alaykum
This is somewhat of a difficult topic to write about, because you would think that such things can't be happening, that no human could possibly have the heart to hand over another human being- at that, their sisters, neighbors, mothers, aunts, and cousins to men who only prey on the vulnerable citizens of the town. Lately, I have been hearing things more than I wanted to. I keep hearing about rape victims in Hargeysa and Mogadishu. What surprises me is not the actions of the rapists, but the silence of the citizens, and of the governments. Take for example the mother in Mogadishu that was reported to have been raped by AMISOM soldiers this week. Two somali local soldiers had come to her home and asked her to come with them because she was suspected of being a member of Al-Shabab. This was their ploy to lure her in into the darkness that she would be raped in. She is a mother of three children. They took her to the place where these amisom leaders were residing, and three men raped her one at a time. She became unconscious, and was then thrown to a place near where she was raped. People who had seen her there brought her back home. What shame it is that the world keeps silent to such atrocities! What did she do to deserve such a criminal act?! How many more people will wait for to disappear from the face of this earth with a broken heart, a broken spirit, and then be buried in the graves of a broken society?! how long?! And what about the 80,000 women who were reported to have been raped in Hargeysa in a period of three months! What about the abductions, disappearances, and brutal beatings of the Ethiopian regime on the citizens of The Ogaden region?! what about the incessant murders of the military coup of Egypt?! what about the chemical weapons being used on the children of Syria? what about the burning of homes of Burmese Muslims? How long are we willing to wait for the pain, suffering, murderers, disappearances, abductions, and the cries of our sisters and brothers to continue before we put an end to it? with that I end this post with a reminder from the Prophet salallahu alayhi wasalam when he talked about the similitude of the believers. He salallahu 'alayhi wasalam said: "Prophet Muhammad (sal Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “The similitude of believers in regard to mutual love, affection, fellow-feeling is that of one body; when any limb of it aches, the whole body aches, because of sleeplessness and fever.” [Muslim]
